Why Christians Give:

As followers of Christ, we are called to give generously and cheerfully as an expression of our gratitude for all that God has given us. The Bible provides guidance on why and how we should give:

1. Stewardship of God's Blessings: In 2 Corinthians 9:6-7, we read, "The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." This passage emphasizes that our giving should be intentional and joyful, recognizing that everything we have ultimately belongs to God.

2. Supporting the Work of the Church: In 1 Corinthians 9:14, it says, "In the same way, the Lord commanded that those who proclaim the gospel should get their living by the gospel." By giving to our local church, we support the ministry of spreading the Gospel and caring for the needs of the congregation.

3. Meeting the Needs of Others: Acts 20:35 states, "In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” Our giving enables us to bless others and demonstrate Christ's love in practical ways.
